Desert Vibes at Pyramid Lake
Long time no blog, babes! It's officially Spring Break 2k18 and guess what? I got a foot of snow at my apartment last night! SO much for fun in the sun. I did get to have just a little bit of fun yesterday before the storm came though. OKAY I HAD A LOT OF FUN.
Although I am a Nevada native, there isn't much to Las Vegas besides the city life. We have Lake Mead and Red Rock which are beautiful in their own right, but once I moved to Reno about four years ago I have done no exploring of my surroundings besides the good bars and even better local coffee shops. I was craving some desert air so my cute little friend and I took a quick 30 minute road trip to Pyramid Lake. Not too many people don't talk about Pyramid because Tahoe is just as close, but it was snowing there and my plans got changed, but boy was I in for a treat.
Once we passed the Costco it was all desert from there. I've never been that person who hated Nevada. Growing up in Las Vegas most of my peers were dying to break free from "Boring Nevada" or "Small Las Vegas." But it wasn't until I moved to Reno that I found my admiration for Nevada. The dry desert air, alpine lakes, picturesque mountains are just a few of the things that I love. The sagebrush was not the easiest to maneuver around but hey! What do you expect from Nevada?
I knew that we were going somewhere, but our plans were so allover the place that it was hard to pinpoint a location which means it was even harder to get an outfit together, but luckily goodwill exists! I pretty much hated everything I had and I had no idea where we were going so lets DIY some jeans shall we?! My outfit was fairly simple while frolicking through the desert. My DIY distressed boyfriend jeans were a one of a kind Ryann Original from Goodwill. I also wore a tied up cactus shirt from Urban Outfitter which was not a coincidence even though I wish it was. I wore these simple blush sandals which look good but were the WORST decision to because of how difficult it would be to climb over sand mountains. I didn't get the memo that I would be pretty much hiking. Lastly, I finished the outfit with a hat that was more cowboy that Coachella, but give me a break! It was a last minute outfit.
I would suggest if you are not familiar with your surroundings to go out and explore a little. You never know what beauty you will find.
Happy Spring Breaking
